The Heritage Centre for Active Citizenship (HCAC) is a student-led civic organization in school. It strives to bring about a positive difference by identifying issues in society and working to turn ideas into real change.
They organize campaigns, work with NGOs, hold workshops, do nukkad nataks and produce short films, all in an effort to increase awareness regarding social issues. Although this may be a romanticised notion, it can be described as an enriching forum that can bring the community together for a common cause as their work implores people to think and act upon societal problems. Their projects have a dedicated team of 7-8 volunteers led by a student facilitator which stays back once a week, researching and conducting field work.
In the last two years, the HCAC has succeeded in bringing about state-legislature changes, among other monumental impacts, and have been covered on national television.
This section is a glimpse into the projects undertaken by them and the results. If you have an ideas, or want to be a part of any project, you can contact them at hcac.citizenship@ggn.hxls.org.
