One of HCAC’s oldest initiatives is the Give Way to Ambulances (GWA) project started in September, 2015 as a part of The Road Safety scheme. The HCAC team, led by student leader Aayush Mehra of grade 11 IBDP, began with interviews of police officers, government officials, ambulance drivers, hospital workers and common people who had in some way been part of an ambulance delay due to the lack of clear passage. The results of this carefully documented research were campaigns and the creation of striking car stickers with strong captions. The HCAC then progressed to develop a much larger awareness campaign named the “Car-tesy”, to distribute such visually impacting car stickers to every customer and potential buyer in Ford showrooms and service centers. The team is proud to say that they have persuaded the Haryana government to raise the fine charged for not giving way to an ambulance, and are very close to partnering with Ford to bring this project to a different level of awareness.
